Bridge Design Engineer

Salary range:  $86-100K

Relocation assistance:  Possible for a truly outstanding candidate, but would prefer a local or Ohio permanent resident.

Start date:  ASAP

Must have skills:  Ohio PE license or ability to quickly gain it.  U.S. citizen or permanent alien.  Attention to detail.  Self-starter.  Strong experience with AASHTO and Ohio DOT design manuals regarding both preliminary and detail design of all aspects of open channel and bridge hydraulics, roadways and bridges.  Excellent personal and written communication skills to enable effective interaction with clients and fellow employees to get projects done accurately and promptly.  Strong initiative but will ask questions if they don’t understand how to proceed with a design or project.  Excellent project design and management experience.  Very effective client interaction and business development skills to acquire and manage future design work.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with Ohio professional engineering registration (or ability to quickly gain such) and sufficient bridge design
  experience to qualify as an Ohio Department of Transportation Level 2 Bridge Design Engineer
• Must be able to prepare plans with AutoCAD.
• Experience with MicroStation, Open Roads, Merlin-Dash, PSBeam, HEC-RAS and AASHTO BrR bridge load rating programs are a very strong plus.
• Must have experience in the design of the following:

Superstructure Types
 Continuous reinforced concrete slabs
 Multiple-span precast prestressed concrete box and I-beams
 Continuous composite rolled steel beams and plate girders
Pier Types
 Cap and column
 T-type (or “Hammerhead”)
 Wall-type
Abutment Types
 Stub
 Integral
 Semi-Integral
 Wall-type or Retaining Wall over 20’ tall
Foundation Types
 Multiple-row piles
 Spread footing
 Drilled shaft
