A local manufacturing company is looking for a Manual Machinist. Job duties include setting up and operating manual, special-purpose, and CNC machines to machine metallic and nonmetallic parts applying knowledge of mechanics, metal properties, machine shop theory and shop mathematics. Solve problems relative to material, tools, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, product specifications and machining.

Location: Mansfield

Schedule: 6:50am-3pm M-F

Essential Job Functions

• Must be knowledgeable regarding shop and equipment safety.
• Read and comprehend drawings, work instructions, and any special specifications to effectively and safely machine part.
• Set up and operate metalworking machines such as an engine lathe, knee-mill, surface grinder, boring mill, CNC, or VTL to machine parts to specifications and verify conformance of parts to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Confers with engineers, sales manager, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Communicates with co workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
• Inspects and measures parts to maintain accurate quality records.
• Exhibit the initiative to assist in the continuous improvement efforts and Lean initiatives of the business.
• Trains machinist in set-up and operation of machine tools.
• Establishes work procedures for machining new parts.
• Exhibit the initiative to assist in the continuous improvement efforts and Lean initiatives of the business.
